This story happened in the past, but I wanted to share what happened to me on this day. Thanks for reading!
The line was getting longer and longer. One single line. Only there was another entrance to the drive-thru, this one closer up. You could probably guess what was gonna happen next...
Yep. Someone came along and formed a NEW line as an offshoot to our line. Never mind that most of us had been waiting for the better part of 5 minutes at this point. Because this wise guy had found the super-secret OTHER entrance, he got to break in line in front of everyone, at least that was his intention.
It was up to me to let him in or not, since the three cars in front of me refused to. I figured I had a choice. I could let him in or I could leave him there. I really should take a stand, make him wait until his rightful spot in line. I really should. It was up to all of us to stand up to him.
What did I do?
I caved. I. let. him. in... ugh. how could I?!
But I grumbled under my breath the entire time.
What's WRONG with people? I was wondering why everyone but me seems to be so darn selfish. It's just so rude. I just shook it off, placed my order, and proceeded to the window. I was determined not to let some line-breaker ruin my day.
When I got to the window to pay, the employee was smiling. "You can go on to the next window," she said. "The customer in line in front of you paid for your order and said thanks for letting him in."
WOW. WHAT!? What just happened here?
I was stunned! I kept staring at this woman like I was stupid. I had no idea what to say! I'd been chiding myself for always doing the nice thing and being too scared to take a stand and look what had happened. Someone had actually thanked me by doing something nice in return.
It completely turned my mood around. What I did next was completely irrelevant haha.
But anyways, saying "Thanks!" and giving the courtesy wave is one thing, we all kind of expect that; but paying for someone else's meal really goes out of their way to show their appreciation for your actions.
I've should've order something more extravagant than the dollar menu! lol
